A bit of history

We are in 1837, the history of Le Touquet begins. Alphonse Daloz (1800-1885), Parisian notary, decided to purchase the Domaine du Touquet. Thus begins a great adventure: in 1855, Mr. Daloz began planting maritime pines to fix the dune. Among his friends is, the founder of the newspaper Le Figaro, Hippolyte de Villemessant. It was he who, in 1874, inspired Daloz to create a seaside resort in Le Touquet, between sea and forest.

An Englishman named Sir John Whitley bought the estate at the beginning of the 20th century and officially gave it the name of Touquet Paris-Plage, he decided to expand Le Touquet to make it a luxury seaside resort. Many facilities were created such as a tennis court, a golf course, a racecourse, and one of the largest casinos in Europe. We then come across Parisian and English high society as well as celebrities from all walks of life. With its century-old pine trees, its beach cabins and luxury villas, the seaside resort still reflects the aura of the good times and beyond.

Furthermore, you may come across our President of the Republic: Emmanuel Macron whose main residence is located in the center of Le Touquet.

Over the decades, the resort has continued to prosper, becoming the ultra-chic seaside resort in the North of France.

Majestic villas compete with each other, scattered around a city center where prestigious brands are there. A multitude of sporting activities are offered there, including the famous golf course ranked in the Top 100 of the best resorts in the world (2 18-hole courses and 1 9-hole course), but also the Tennis club (1st club in France in terms of the number of courts clay exteriors), 1 racecourse of 50 hectares of greenery on an exceptional site, 1 athletics stadium, 1 sailing and sand yachting club, kite surfing, etc.

Le Touquet also has cultural activities, trade shows, fairs and exhibitions.

A gastronomic city with its 70 restaurants and 22 classified hotels, many of them.

Le Touquet rhymes with “never get bored.” »
